Dr. Deniz Cereb
Founder and Medical Director of Island Kids Pediatrics
Dr. Deniz Cereb founded Island Kids Pediatrics in early 2000, just at the beginning of the new millennium. Since then, the practice has expanded to become what we are today, a large group practice of medical professionals to help improve the lives and well-being of each and every one of our patients.
Dr. Cereb graduated from Ankara University School of Medicine in Turkey and completed his Pediatric training at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Cereb is Board-certified in pediatrics and has been serving the children and families of the Staten Island community for over 25 years.
Dr. Cereb currently oversees and manages Island Kids Pediatrics, which is ever expanding. In his free time, he enjoys reading novels and traveling the world.
Esra Fakioglu
MD, FAAP
Dr. Fakioglu is board certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. She has completed her Pediatrics training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY and afterwards obtained fellowship training on Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, NY. Following her training, Dr. Fakioglu spent 6 years at Montefiore/Einstein, Bronx, NY as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. Although she was an academician, Dr. Fakioglu always kept her connection with patients providing inpatient and outpatient consultations on Pediatric care and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. She has great experience in wide spectrum of pediatric ailments that can affect the age range from newborn to young adult. Dr. Fakioglu is fluent in Turkish (native language) and also in conversational Spanish. She is very happy to be part of the community and serve them in the practice.
Sri Lalitha Garimella
MD, FAAP
Board certified Pediatrician and fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics. Completed medical school in 2012,Telangana, India. After completing medical school worked as hospitalist in Tamilnadu, India. Completed Pediatric residency at Richmond University Medical Center, Staten Island.
Fluent in Telugu and conversational in Hindi and Tamil. Interests include reading, arts and spending time with son and husband. Pediatrics is a unique specialty in which we take care of patients from newborn growing into adults, treating a wide variety of conditions and meeting their special needs which makes it both interesting and rewarding experience.
Angie Hernandez
MD, FAAP
Dr. Hernandez is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a graduate of the Sophie Davis School of Biomedicine and New York University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Cohen Children’s Medical Center at North Shore-Long Island Jewish.
She previously worked as a pediatrician at a private clinic in Queens. Her special interests include developmental screening and asthma management.
Dr. Hernandez was raised in Staten Island and is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Hernandez enjoys art, traveling and spending time with her son, husband, and family.
C. Nathan Kabariti
MD
Dr. C. Nathan Kabariti is a board-certified Pediatrician who attained his Medical Doctor degree from the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and completed his Pediatrics training at the Maimonides Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Kabariti was born in Syria but raised in Brooklyn and is conversational in Arabic due to his Syrian Jewish heritage. During his leisure time, he enjoys reading, music, and spending time with his wife, two sons, and family. He is excited to be part of the community and serve them in the practice.
Brittany Wilson
RPA-C
Brittany Wilson is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant and a 2012 graduate from SUNY Downstate’s Physician Assistant program. She has over 10 years of primary pediatric experience as well as experience in the specialty of Otolaryngology.
In addition to her clinical practice, PA Wilson works as a Clinical Coordinator for the Downstate PA program in which she guides Physician Assistant students during their clinical rotations. She is also a guest lecturer for the program.
PA Wilson is also a certified Sleep Consultant and is happy to help any parents who are having difficulty training their little ones to fall or stay asleep and/or sleep independently. She also offers consults to parents of school age children and adolescents who are experiencing insomnia.
PA Wilson describes herself as “a big kid” and truly enjoys spending time with her patients. She prides herself on being very down to earth and easy to talk to. In her spare time, she enjoys drawing and painting, photography, and spending time with her family, friends, and fur babies.
Jessie Prescott
FNP-BC
Jessie Prescott is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner, member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and mommy to her “threenager” as she calls him, her very spunky toddler. She has always felt compelled to focus on the pediatric population and believes in the power of a strong partnership between providers and parents in giving the best medical care for children possible. As an advanced practice nurse she is vital in all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations. She is passionate and committed to delivering high quality care to her patients.
Jessie grew up in Staten Island and obtained her degree from Wagner College. Since then, she has worked in a level four NICU in Manhattan, serving some of the smallest babies and their families and was a clinical lab instructor at her former nursing school. She treats children of all ages and appreciates the importance of being thorough and gentle with young patients whilst being attentive and informative with all parents.
In her free time, Jessie enjoys spending time with her son, her family, and her friends. She also enjoys traveling, exercising, and staying active to keep up with her two dogs. Most importantly, she loves to create beautiful memories at home.
Milagros Pena
RN, MS, CPNP-PC
Milagros Pena completed her graduate studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1998, obtaining Board Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2002. Milagros’ experience in pediatrics has been in a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient settings with her longest tenure being at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Bronx, NY from 2000-2011. Milagros has been an adjunct faculty in the nursing department at NYU, Lehman and Hunter colleges teaching in both classroom and clinical settings. Milagros is fluent in Spanish and prides herself in providing culturally sensitive pediatric care to children and families from diverse backgrounds.
In her spare time, Milagros enjoys hiking, swimming and tennis with her family.
